Henri Macquart, the man of unity

A historic figure in the Champagne wine world, Henri Macquart played a leading role in the interprofessional and cooperative movement.
The surplus harvest of 1970, involving significant storage problems, made him realize that it was time for winegrowers to unite to guarantee the sales of their grapes.
A determined and charismatic man in the field, Henri Macquart gathered cooperative winegrowers around him and persuaded them to create a storage tool.
The Champagne Wine Centre was founded in 1972, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, under the leadership of a wise man who served as its president until 1981 and sat on the board of directors until 1997 as honorary president.

Nicolas Feuillatte, the founder

Born in Paris in 1926 into a family of major wine and spirits importers, Nicolas Feuillatte possessed a spirit of adventure that led him to try his luck across the Atlantic after World War II. In 1960, he became the first importer of African coffee in the United States. At the age of 40, he invested in the Champagne vineyard. The first grapes harvested were sold to the trade. In 1976, he created and produced a champagne that bears his name for his circle of American friends. Commercial success was immediate. He sold his brand in 1986 to the Centre Vinicole de la Champagne, and remains an incomparable ambassador, constantly driven by a desire to create, innovate, and invent.

Drawing their energy and indulgence from a remarkable multiplicity of vintages enhanced by the delicate art of blending, Nicolas Feuillatte champagnes reflect the balance, finesse, and freshness of this unique land. Our vintages originate from the wide variety of our grapes, perfectly ripe, vinified by vintage or by vintage zone and by grape variety, as well as a rigorous selection of Premiers and Grands Crus.
