What is a vintage champagne?
Strictly speaking, it is a sparkling wine made from a blend of grapes harvested in a single year. The vintage designation is therefore the prerogative of a great vintage, which gives a prestigious rating to the bottles concerned. Issued only on rare occasions, this designation gives a good indication of the quality of the champagne.
Not all champagnes can boast a vintage. Only those that attest to aging a minimum of 3 years in cellars can benefit from the vintage mention. The vinification technique is therefore longer than for a classic champagne. If the climatological conditions play a decisive role in the desire to vintage a champagne, it is above all the choice of Cellar Master. He makes this decision based on his mastery of all the parameters, particularly the characteristics of previous years. His talent, his aspirations and his vision of a great champagne take on their full importance here.
Highly sought after by lovers of fine bubbles, vintage champagne is also known as champagne Millésimé.
Prolonged aging in the cellar enhances these vintages, with more evolved notes. Champagnes for gourmets that can be placed on reception or festive tables, pairing well with the finest dishes.
